Call for Assistant Conductor – Portillo International Music Academy Festivalúsica Portillo 2026 

Vibra Clásica opens the call to join the Portillo Fest 2026 team as Assistant Conductor, a unique experience of musical learning and leadership in the Andes. 

Context 

Since 2019, Portillo Fest has brought together young musicians from Chile, Latin America and the world in an academic process of excellence, where music is lived as a transforming artistic and human experience. 

Role of the Assistant Conductor 

• Support orchestral rehearsals under the direction of Alejandra Urrutia. 
• Support tasks associated with preparing the orchestra: marking scores, setting the hall and seating plan, coordinating materials. 
• Receive personalized mentoring and direct feedback. 
• Conduct children’s/youth orchestras invited to the festival. 
• Conduct excerpts from the Portillo Festival Orchestra repertoire in the concerts. 

What participation offers 

• Intensive training at a high-level festival. 
• Live the complete artistic process alongside musicians of international excellence. 
• Access to a global network of performers, teachers and alumni. 

Basic requirements 

• Young conductors in training. 
• Academic or professional experience in orchestral conducting. 
• Submit an updated CV and a video of yourself conducting (rehearsal or concert with orchestra/ensemble). 

Key dates 

• Call open: 12 September – 10 octubre 2025 (28 días). 
• Review of applications: 11–13 October 2025. 
• Results announced: second half of October 2025. 
• Festival: 17–27 January 2026.
