Three consecutive performances marked the musical agenda of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago
Last weekend, conductor Alejandra Urrutia led three consecutive concerts at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, conducting the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of the Teatro Municipal in programs of great musical richness.
“From the New World” concerts with the Philharmonic Orchestra
On Friday 6 June (7:00 pm) and Saturday 7 June (5:00 pm) two performances of the program “From the New World” were presented under Urrutia’s direction.
The repertoire included the premiere of the Kookaburra Concerto by Chilean composer Luis Saglie, performed by pianist Alexandra Silocea, followed by Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” by Antonín Dvořák.
Both performances drew large audiences, reflecting public interest in programs that combine contemporary premieres with works from the universal symphonic repertoire.

2025 Chamber Orchestra season: an opening for new audiences
On Sunday 8 June at 12:00 pm, the first public performance of the 2025 season of the Chamber Orchestra of the Teatro Municipal took place, also under Urrutia’s direction.
The program included works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and an arrangement of music by Astor Piazzolla, bringing together classical and Latin American languages in a warmly approachable program.
The performance had a particularly open character, with many young attendees and new audiences who found in this format a gateway into the world of chamber music.

Upcoming cycles
The Teatro Municipal de Santiago continues its season with new dates for the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra, conceived as active spaces for artistic exploration and encounter with the community.
